Drama
- Literature’s attempt to transcend its physical limits and become a real life experience through dynamic interactions among the people involved
- Goes beyond its script to ultimately be performed on stage, showcasting its literacy ascendancy harmoniously with its non-literary elements such as music, dance, and visual arts
The roots of drama can be traced back to the ancient civilization of Greece, in which three (3) genres emerged
a. tragedy
- mainly portrayed occurences from Greek mythology and was concerned with morality
b. comedy
- opposed to tragedy
- took a much lighter tone and was concerned with projecting humor through theatrical arts
c. Satyr
- followed some elements of tragedy such as structure and characters but look the exultant theme commonly observed in comedic drama
Tragicomedy
- An artistic combination of tragedy and comedy, where diverse characteristics of these drama forms were merged into a distinct form
